About Me
As the down-to-earth, adventure-loving photographer behind Amanda Downie Creative, I am passionate about capturing life's special moments in a way that is both natural and relaxed. I live in the beautiful coastal town of Newcastle with my fiancé Zach and my two pups, Arnie and Louie, and I am constantly inspired by the beauty of my surroundings and the love I share with my family.
My journey as a photographer began like many others, with a love for capturing memories on a camera. I was given my first Kodak Digital Camera as a teenager and grew up with my parents constantly capturing beautiful moments shared between our family. However, it wasn't until the passing of my parents that I realized the true importance of a moment and the powerful magic that a photograph can hold. I now hold dear the photographs I have of my family, and the feelings associated with them, and I am driven to create that same kind of magic for others.
During my photography sessions, there are no rules or expectations. My goal is simply to capture your moment in time authentically and with a focus on the beautiful connection that you share with your loved ones. I strive to create images that showcase the unique essence of each person and the emotions that are present in the moment. With a relaxed and natural approach, I aim to capture those little moments that can often pass by in an instant.

My approach is to blend technical skills with creativity and to tell a story through my images. In every portrait session, I aim to create a relaxed and comfortable environment where my subjects can be themselves. This allows me to capture genuine moments and expressions that truly tell their story. Whether it's a family portrait, a couple's session, or a personal portrait, I strive to create images that are meaningful and memorable for my clients. Why photography?
Photography is my passion and my purpose, where I can merge my love for art and my ability to connect with people. The interplay of light and colour is always breathtaking, but it's the individuals I capture through my lens that truly bring the magic to life.

What does family mean to you?
To me, family means love and support. It is the foundation of my life and the people who are always there for me, through thick and thin. Family is where I find comfort and a place to be my authentic self. It's where I've formed some of my deepest connections and created memories that I will cherish forever. Family is not just blood relatives, but also the people in my life who have become like family to me, through shared experiences, trust, and love.
To me, family is everything and I am grateful for each and every member in my life. My love and appreciation for family is what inspired me to pursue portrait photography. Capturing the love, connection, and memories of families is a privilege and it brings me so much joy to be able to do that for others. I strive to create unique and meaningful images for my clients, to tell their stories and to preserve their memories for generations to come.
Outside of photography what are your hobbies & interests?
Aside from photography, I have a number of interests that shape my perspective on life and creativity. I am a strong advocate for health and wellness and enjoy incorporating fitness into my daily routine. Nature and wildlife have always been a source of inspiration for me, and I am often in awe of the beauty of the natural world. I am also an avid traveller and relish the opportunity to explore new cultures, and landscapes and capture the essence of the world around me.
For me, adventure and outdoor activities are an essential part of life, and I am always eager to challenge myself and explore new terrain. Whether it be a new trail to hike, or a new location to shoot, I am up for the challenge! I am also deeply interested in people and culture, and I love to capture images that showcase the essence of human connection and experience. And last but not least, music is a huge part of my life, and I love the energy and emotion it can ignite and there’s nothing better than seeing your favourite artist live in concerts.
These hobbies and interest help to fuel my passion for photography and help me to bring a unique and dynamic perspective to every shoot.
