Preserving Memories: My Calling as a Photographer
As a photographer, capturing life's special moments is my passion,
and a deep love for preserving memories drives me.
My journey as a photographer began when I was given my first Kodak digital camera as a teenager. Growing up, my parents constantly captured beautiful moments shared between our family, and these photographs hold a special place in my heart. They are a reminder of the love and connection we shared, and the memories I have of my family, and the feelings associated with them, are something I hold dear to my heart.
After the passing of my parents, I realised the powerful magic a photograph can hold.
My memories of my family, and the associated feelings drive me to create the same kind of magic for others. I understand how important it is to preserve memories and to have a tangible representation of the love and connections we share with our loved ones. That is why I am so passionate about portrait photography.
This passion brought me to create, ‘Amanda Downie Creative’ as it stands today, an absolute passion and dream!
During my photography sessions, I aim to capture your moment in time authentically and with a focus on the beautiful connection you share with your loved ones. I strive to create images that showcase each person's unique essence and the emotions present at the moment. With a relaxed and natural approach, I aim to capture those little moments that can often pass by in an instant.
To me, family means to love and support. It is the foundation of my life and the people who are always there for me through thick and thin. Family is where I find comfort and a place to be my authentic self. It's where I've formed some of my deepest connections and created memories that I will cherish forever. Family is not just blood relatives but also the people in my life who have become like family to me through shared experiences, trust, and love. My love and appreciation for family inspired me to pursue portrait photography and is at the heart of my journey and story.
Capturing the love, connection, and memories is a privilege, and it brings me so much joy to do that for others. I strive to create unique and meaningful images for my clients, tell their stories, and preserve their memories for generations to come. And I have a special hope for the future when I have my kids that they will one day know and resonate with their families' memories through their legacy captured and the stories their photos commemorate and tell. The thought of being able to share the love and connection that I have with this form of storytelling with my existing family and future children brings me so much joy.
